What a better way to celebrate this Halloween season than to dress up in a Halloween costume, and partake in the frightful festivities falling into

Educational infant halloween costumes Resources And Information
Yes, there is a moral to the story, but mostly my boys just enjoyed it because it was a fun Halloween story. It’s one that’s been requested by both of them over and over which is a real stamp of approval! Actually, I think this was the book that got each of them interested in the Berenstain Bears – and they’re five years apart so each at a different point in time. Don’t buy this one for the moral to the story; buy it because it’s fun!
The Berenstain Bears “Trick or Treat” is a good book for the 1st time readers. It tells the story of Brother and Sister on Halloween night. They are scarred to go to Miz McGrizz’s house because they think she is a witch. They end up going there trying to cuase trouble but are suprised when they find out that she is a very nice person.
My 5 year old loved this book, and it’s got a positive message too that he goes around saying sometimes. Anybook that can promote fun and safety at Halloween as well as a good message is a great book to share with your children.
The book’s message, “appearances can be quite deceiving,” focuses on a spooky, old house with an elderly woman named Miz MGrizz. The little bears learn to not judge people unkindly by their appearance.
This is a tricky message as so much of the parental advice prior to Halloween is for kids to be on their guard.
The book does reinforce some great Halloween safety messages:
1. Stay in your own neighborhood.
2. Don’t eat the treats until you get home and Mama Bear inspects them.
I also recommend these other Berenstain Bears’ books:
The Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Chores
The Berenstain Bears Forget Their MannersThe Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight
The Berenstain Bears and Too Much TV
The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers
Like the book The Berenstain Bears’ New Neighbors, The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat is a book tackling the subject of prejudice and not judging people by appearances.
However, like the other book, Papa’s animosity and presumption is just too over the top–and, in my opinion, reinforces prejudice rather than challenges it.
For example, on the next to the last page, the kids are happily eating their take from Trick or Treating. Papa asks them where the beautiful candy apples came from. Brother and Sister inform him that they came from old Miz McGrizz.
“From that scary-looking old grouch puss that lives down Crooked Lane?”, he asks. While the kids were surprised at Mizz McGrizz’s kindness and friendliness and learned a lesson about rumors and assumption, the book ends on a rather sour note with Papa Bear’s judgmentalism. In my opinion, it reinforces stereotype about the elderly and small-town rumors about “scary old people” who live in a “haunted house”.
I feel that The Berenstain Bears and the Prize Pumpkin is a far better book to celebrate the Fall season (although that one is more about thankfulness/Thanksgiving).
This book has great illustrations because of the night scenes, to be sure, but I don’t like how the ending focuses mostly on Papa Bear’s insult against Mizz McGrizz (although it’s great that the kids, at least, realized the error of their assumption based on neighborhood legend…)
Put the little guy in a pot to carry him around and he was a hit.
This is a really cute costume. My 18 month old wore it and it fit well and held up to a night of carnival fun. She wore it with a red long sleeve shirt and red leggings.
My son was absolutely adorable in this! I guess it’s a halloween costume so it is made well enough to serve it’s purpose, not for everyday use. I dressed my daughter as a chef (Daddy is a chef) so it was the perfect duo. They were so cute, it almost brought tears to Grandma’s eyes, she couldn’t stop giggling! Adorable costume!
…but I think it could be more realistic. This costume might be good enough for some, but it doesn’t quite cut it if you really want your baby to look like a lobster.
This costume is amazing! My child has never looked cuter than dressed up as a lobster. I can’t wait till she’s older and sees all the pictures we took of her in this thing. I’m sure it will really give her self-esteem a boost in those ever important ‘tween years!
THis is a great collection of catchy Halloween tunes that make young children smile. I have a 2.5 year old and a 4.5 year old. There isn’t anything scary about the CD. It is GREAT!!! Infact, at Christmas time, the kids were still asking to play the Halloween CD!!!!
This CD is loads of fun. We can’t take it out of our car becasue our daughter always asks for it from the back seat. She enjoys hearing kids singing along and the sound effects. We (parents) like the music and the fact that it doesn’t sound like a “kiddy” CD.
love this music cd….play it in the classroom play it in the car….love love love …bloody finger!!!!!=)……
it’s a toy figure. the kids play with it and like it. nothing special.
The material is printed, it is not a real costume. My 3 yrs son loves it, but i think you can get something better for that amount of money.
Wish I had seen the boring review before I purchased the DVD for my 4 year old grandaughter. I was expecting a movie with a read along book ( guess I didn’t read close enough) My granddaugher loves books and movies , but this was neither and was boring. I didn’t enjoy even listening to the story myself. Was overpriced considering the DVD Spookley is so much better. She begs this to be read to her and to watch the movie. Was a waste of $$$$ in my opinion.
I recently purchased this dvd for my 3 kids (ages 2, 4, and 8). All of them thought it was fantastic. My youngest ones watched it repeatedly. My oldest also loved the pictures and the story. It was worth the purchase! I highly recommend it.
I bought this for my children and they couldn’t get through it. It is very dull and basically just a book being read outloud. I wish I had read these reviews before buying it. I recommend “Spookley The Square Shaped Pumpkin” instead. My kids loved that DVD. It was much more interesting, and cheaper, than this boring book read aloud DVD.
